Bears in Danbury
May. 2nd, 2005 09:37 amSpent this last weekend in Danbury, Ct. _Bear Trek_. Very nice people, caught up on sleep Friday night and didn't get enough Saturday night. FUN pool party. Not much of a lobby scene but I'm not much of a lobby scene person. Met some nice guys, got to see some nice guys that I don't see often enough.
We were sitting around at lunch trying to think up new derogatory terms for sash-wearers and someone suggested "sashsquatch". I'm still giggling about that one.
I'll post some pictures when I get a chance, but I didn't get a lot of them.
So much going on. The demolition of the bedroom to create a new bathroom is describable by a sequence of discoveries followed by an associated increase in cost. We discovered that the house, parts of which date back to the mid 1800s, consists of old lath & plaster that are incredibly unlevel and out of plumb, with new walls framed inside them. So that's why some of the walls are so thick and why the ceilings are low on the 2nd floor (and why the house is so quiet.) The room where the new bathroom is going is about 14 feet wide and actual ceiling (aka the supporting beams for the floor above) is 8 inches lower in the middle of the house than they are at the outer wall.
It will look fabulous when it's done.
