Fabulous and productive day in the garden
Apr. 3rd, 2006 12:57 pmThe morning before Ernie left to go to Fla for the week we bought 3 large trees and a large shrub to fill in the back yard and to start blocking the view of the hideous Condos behind us. I had to work Saturday but Sunday was freeer and I spent a lot of time cleaning things up, clearing the spaces for the trees, etc.
In the back of the lot there was this:

Property lines are a bit blurry here but ours is closer to the fence on the left than to the chain-link fence on the right. The problem on the right is that the property line is on sort of a rustic retaining wall that we own some part of but not all the way up, so there's no way to put a fence on top of it. The section of wood fence was apparently put in as a place to throw leaves, clippings, etc and let them decompose down to re-usable soil - thus the relatively un-ivyed section was actually gate. Behind it was empty space.
With the construction going on behind us I wanted to remove this thing and replace it with fence on the property line but Ernie wanted to avoid conflict with the neighbors who already hate us. So while I was working in the yard I figured I could re-use the old fence and no one would be the wiser.
This isn't very exciting but I wanted Ernie to see the photos.
