.... for a week and a half. I've missed 4 days of work. I am sleep-deprived because I cough so much at night. I went to the doctor's yesterday and asked for something that would help me sleep and not cough. I agreed to see the PA because this isn't life-threatening. She says she'll give me Robitussin DAC which includes a decongestant. I say "it's not pseudoephedrine, is it? Because I'm hypersensitive to that and it will keep me awake." "Oh no" she says.

It's loaded with it. I got maybe an hour's sleep last night. I am exhausted and buzzed and agitated and angry. I don't know if I should call the Dr and tell him because I want him to know why I don't want to see her again.

In the meantime, any serious cough medication contains controlled substances so I don't think it can be phoned in.

This sucks.

and he said I should never hesitate to call him, that he thought she'd made a mistake, and that he thinks this was an anomaly - but most importantly that he'll talk to her about it.

He gave me a prescription for Tussionex® which is time-release hydrocodone and an antihistamine. Warned me to talk only 1/2 teaspoon and not to think I need more until it's been 4 hours at which points he believes that that 1/2 teaspoon will be working fine.

Thanks for the feedback, it helped clarify for me that this was serious enough to bring up.
