Less heavy stuff
Jul. 11th, 2008 05:26 amA number of people I read here are fans of modernist/midcentury stuff; they might be amused at this structure to hold a flat-panel tv:

The LA Times had an article on the revival of a Spanish Colonial house; I love this style perhaps more than any other. To me it feels cool, comfortable, calm, and absolutely gorgeous. I have strong memories as a child of loving this architecture and wanting to spend the night at friends' houses that were in this style.

The Laguna Beach Art Museum is exhibiting "In the Land of Retinal Delights: The Juxtapoz Factor" - "In the Land of Retinal Delights: The Juxtapoz Factor is an exhibition that presents the work of 150 artists and posits that there has been a huge, but unacknowledged art movement taking place in this country for the last 40 years. Since 1994, this ground swelling of lowbrow, surrealistic, pop, figurative, narrative work has coalesced and found a voice in the pages of Juxtapoz magazine published in San Francisco. This rag has become the most widely read art magazine in the US."
I love Juxtapoz; I have a couple of issues that I've carried around for years because I love the art in them.
I'm also going to go see Video art at the South Coast Plaza shopping mall.
I haven't been to the beach yet but I'm hoping to get in the water today. I got to the gym yesterday - I love this gym, it's got massive guys talking with valley accents. I told Ernie I felt small yet superior. LOTS of equipment, eye candy, and no waiting.
Today is early gym, then driving my mother around to shop for a 2nd refrigerator and patio furniture, then the Orange County Fair which is full of animals and craft competitions. I plan on taking lots of photos.
After that I might go back to the only gay bar in Orange County, the one with the chalky pool table, and see if I can terrorize the locals a bit more (but that's a different post.)
