Who you meet at the beach

I went to the beach today with friend Luis (pictured here previously) and he brought cigars. As we were lighting his second there was a woman behind us who was noticing and I thought, Oh Shit, she's going to complain about the smoke. Instead she commented that the wimpy Bic lighter we had wasn't strong enough and then we were going to go in the water she piped up "I'll hold it for you!". So she did. When we got back she gave it back to Luis with a big piece of ash on it and said "I didn't knock it off, I thought you might want it for ashplay." ::giggle:: I said "We probably know people in common." Then we went for a walk. When we came back later we were all packing up and talking and she's on the board of TES, knows all the names of people I know involved in that through here, was at Leather Pride Night, bemoaned (for my sake, I assume) how non-queer-engaging the TES parties are, and showed us her marks from some needlework that had been done on her and where she'd been temporarily branded with the tip of a hot paperclip.

As with the other people I've met from that circle she had great energy. I hope to run into her again.
