I wonder if I am being taught a lesson
Jun. 3rd, 2009 06:37 amWe have a ratzapper ultra that I purchased last year. We managed to get a couple of rats before it got too cold for the batteries to work outside. It electrocutes them so it seems relatively humane.
We noticed a rat in the yard a couple of days ago so I put the zapper back out - with some dog food, in the back of a barrel turned on its side to protect it from rain. This morning I got up and found that something had pulled it out of the barrel and opened it up and removed the batteries.
We have tree squirrels, sometimes opossums, skunks (but you can smell when they've been around) and recently, groundhogs. We don't have raccoons. The battery cover is pretty securely held in place with a small tab and it's a two-handed operation to open it.

I'm a little frightened.
