Volunteerism
Oct. 31st, 2009 09:05 amOn Wednesday I'm going to an volunteer orientation and interview at the Ali Forney Center in NYC:
"AFC is the nation's largest and most comprehensive organization dedicated to homeless LGBT youth. Our goal is to provide homeless LGBT youths, aged 16-24, with the support and services they need to escape the streets and begin to live healthy and independent lives."
I have no idea what I'll be doing, but I know that the idea of kids being kicked out by their parents is horrifying to me.
One of things on the list that volunteers can do is "prepare dinner". That's something I can do. Otherwise, I'm kinda terrified.
