Photography

I've been completely un-driven and un-inspired for the last two months. I'm pushing myself to work more with garden pictures, and I'm pleased with this one:

Because I have a cold and it gets worse at night and it's night and I'm grumpy, here is a link to a style of photography that I despise. http://www.dbem.net/

Why do you despise it? I thought, well, SOME of them were ok. I wonder how they achive that weird quality where ti looks like the model appears placed onto the background.

My biggest problem with it is that for me, it doesn't feel like anything. It's an effect without affect. It's cookie-cutter cartoony.

It's also incredibly easy to achieve. Do you have Photoshop? Crank up shadows and highlights and you'll see what I mean.

I do that in my photos already. I guess I haven't overdone it to that degree.

Yeah. There is no energy whatsoever in the work. The figures feel like mannequins and even the still lifes are lifeless.

It's slick and well shot. And dead.
