Mary Worth
Sep. 5th, 2007 04:52 amThere was a woman I was close friends with in High School and a number of years afterwards. One of those friendships that one day just goes *poof* and you can't remember what you talked about or why you connected so well.
She wasn't known for insight or irony (or reading; she claimed that once she figured out about Cliff Notes in High School that she never read another book) but she did love commenting on the day's Mary Worth cartoon.
I remember one say she was reading and her eyes widened and she she said "Can you believe this MEDDLESOME BITCH?" as she shoved the folded paper at me.
Of course, she was right.

This enactment of the strip is pretty brillant.
"Remember, I warned you!"
Here's a fabulous story arc where Mary gets stalked by Aldo Kelrast.
Such quotable lines:
"It's heartening to see a child overcome an ailment."
