Question and Answer #2

If you could be a color. What would it be?
Answer:
My initial response is that I am already a color, or I have a color, and if I was going to change it it would be to a warm light brown.
Otherwise I want to be iridescent.
Question:
Why can't people just read minds?
Answer:
Because then people couldn't lie and our society and culture would collapse, immediately.
Question:
What got you started on LiveJournal, and what keeps you sticking around?
Answer:
LJ isn't my first experience with online fora. In 1990 I got connected to the early internet (at work) and to AOL (when it was still Mac-only.) I was an engaged participant in the Usenet newsgroup soc.motss and the format had some similarities to LJ in that the communications were article or chunk-of-text based, but were linked into subject threads instead of by author. It was a fascinating community that I learned a lot from. One of the people I knew from there
fj told me about LJ and sent me an invite. I liked it, I liked reading a set of people on here, and it's the same thing that's kept me here. I'm met a delightful and fascinating set of people that I wouldn't have met otherwise.
I tend to like a fair amount of alone time and LJ gives me a way of gently interacting that I wouldn't otherwise have. I also have friends on my list who find and share fascinating things. There are also people I read (like you) who remind me of myself at a time in my life and feel a sense of engagement in reading about their lives - but I hesitate to intrude too much and dole out "when I was your age I...." advice because that's often just posturing.
I'm not much for posting things that are too personal, my experience is that a life lived completely transparently can turn around and bite you on the ass in surprising ways. I also am too obsessed about maintaining a certain image (which is a life-long dysfunction of mine) to just spill things out, although I do try once in a while.
When I'm feeling creative it's very useful for me to have a posting here in mind to get me to complete images. That's like a easy-to-meet mini-deadline.
Sometimes there are booty shots.
It just all adds up to something I want to keep in my life.
