This has been a difficult visit. Ernie's been sick and I don't like being a continent away. I've felt overwhelming lonely. I have been filled with an almost toxic dislike of Orange County, and I know there's no objective reason for it.
I went to the beach yesterday. The water is colder than it should be which makes swimming uncomfortable.

There's a very specific morning light here this time of year. It's very soft yet still bright.

My mother is doing well; my 91yo aunt, the one who broke her hip at Xmas, drove down from Los Angeles to visit. She a lot slowed down but still, 91. Amazing.
I'm leaving in a few minutes to drive to San Diego to visit John and Raul, who we dearly love and miss terribly since they moved to SD. Then John goes to a rehearsal and Raul and I go to The Hole which I think is sort of the equivalent of Sunday at The Dugrod only with a lot more oxygen. I plan on getting both my drink and my bear on.
Then back, Monday night dinner with Martini Tim and his (brood? pod?) at the famous Curry House.
