It's a weeklong party. There is a culture of friendliness that people seem to love and to cultivate. Considering that my sexual attraction requires facial hair but then varies wildly after that, I was in eye candy heaven.

Tea dance the first day was overwhelming, so many people to say hello to.

The tea dance magic (including Planters Punches) takes hold fast.

... and spills out onto the street.

Ernie's towel was popular.

There were people making out everywhere.

And of course lots of cameras.

Old friends to hang out with.

And new friends to hang onto.

Some beach time.

Pool time...

Street parties at the house next door.

... which ran out of alcohol so we helped out with our supply.

Various parties for various reasons.

And dancing.

Then tine for a final house picture, and home.

We are already planning for next year :)

Great pics! That first tea dance pic is like a Where's Waldo.

PS - For people who know people it's also very Romper Room Magic Mirror, as in, "I see Micheal and Thomas and I see Chuck and Roger and Sean. I see ...."

That's a lotta bear soup!

We couldn't find a reasonably priced place to rent for the week, so the Otter and I stayed home... maybe next year.

My brother is STILL talking about what he calls the "easy, happy affection" of bear week.

I think he's hooked.

That's exactly what I've been trying to explain to people - especially the people who go on about how "bear" is a meaningless, tired cliche with no value. If it can get people to coalesce around something like this, then it's still valid.

I've always kind of stuck to describing it as a group with more of a "come as you are" attitude rather than a specific set of physical characteristics.

I tire rather quickly of the people who do the label thing.

I have been going to the Boatslip for years...even before there ever was a bear movement..and it has always been a festive time for groups of gays..with or without face-fuzz...I recall Columbus days especially.

The beauty of the Cape, the safe, gay haven of Provincetown, the relief of being on vacation and away from it all...the Tete-a-tetes underneath the boardwalk...the tea parties at sunset...they all combine to make it a most enjoyable experience..the right people at the right place. I miss it

Thanks for the great photography. Time has moved onward, but things, it seems, really haven't changed much at all.

Quite an amazing group of pictures. Very nice assortment of beautiful men. The shot of the dance floor with the fellows bathed in blue in the foreground is utterly breathtaking!

Many spectacular photos. Thanks for sharing them here.

But what are those strange things hanging from Ernie's body?

Did you see any shows at night, or make your own entertainment?

No, we had tickets to see Varla Jean, bought weeks ago, and they called the day before and said they were oversold and we had to go another night - which we couldn't.

Wow -- if you were ticketed, that's VERY uncool on the part of the venue, unless the Fire Department made them reduce seating, and even then. But it looks like there were plenty of other ways to amuse yourselves, many of them likely better than a drag queen eating aersol cheese. And at least they called you, rather than turning you away at the door.

they said it was a computer error, but I know people who bought tickets later than we did who were not given the same line.
